parathas served with corn and blackbean soup

This queso paratha is a fun and delicious meal that will remind you of quesadilla but with queso dip flavors!

I would say that this paratha is the winner, totally! Kids to adults, this paratha satisfies everyone. The flavors, the nutrition, and on top of it the cheese pull...this is heaven on your plate!

Queso means cheese. Not just cheese, but the melting cheese experience! So in this paratha, you will have the same effect of having the best queso dip inside a whole wheat wrapper, making it unique .

This whole wheat paratha, with tomatoes and herbs, and wth tons of cheese provides a great nourishment! This protein rich paratha is ideal for kids as well as adults. This paratha is similar to Cheese Stuffed Jalapeno Paratha and Green and Red Salsa Paratha, but with slightly different flavor profile both in the whole wheat cobvering as well as in the cheese filling.

Like I said, the paratha reminds you of having queso dip. The cheesy filling made with cheddar, Jack, cotija, queso fresco, and cream cheese makes this unbelievealbly tasty reminding you of the dip. Moreover, the paratha dough is enriched with flavors from tomato, peppers, cilantro, green onions, and garlic reminding of the good old rotel dip. Now tell me, with these flavors, won't you love this healthy whole wheat paratha for a meal?

queso paratha

Ingredients for queso paratha:

Whole wheat - This forms the base of the paratha providing wholesome nutrition.

Salt - gives flavor

Sour cream - The cream adds to the tang and gives a soft paratha

Water - A little to combine the dough

Oil - A little oil aids in making soft dough and thereby soft paratha.

Melted butter - To cook the parathas. You may use oil or ghee instead.

Tomatoes - Fresh chopped tomatoes give the hint of rotel dip in this paratha.

Serrano and Jalapeno peppers - adds to spicy heat. You may adjust as per your preference.

Cilantro and green onion - these herbs boost the aroma and flavor.

Cheese - Cotija, cream cheese, queso fresco, Jack, cheddar, ad sharp white cheddar make this not only unbelievably tasty, cheesy but also give sthe flavor of queso dip.

Garlic - Enhances the flavor.

It is important to sprinkle water and knead the dough. The tomato mixture adds enough moisture to make a smooth and soft dough. About 3 or 4 tablespoons of water is more than necessary to make the perfect soft dough.

Serving Suggestions

This queso paratha is an ultimate wholesome meal by itself. However, I love to serve this with my Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup for a scrumptuous meal. You can also serve with sauteed corn or use this to make a taco!

Since the paratha freezes well, I prefer the black bean soup or salsa as. side for an easy weeknight meal. This is a winner!

Storage

Since this paratha has tons of cheese stuffed inside, if you are not serving them in an hour or so, I would suggest to refrigerate the parathas. They stay fresh for 3-4 days in the fridge. When needed, warm them on the stovetop and serve hot hot to experience the cheesy pull awesome factor!

This paratha also freezes well. I place a piece of parchment between each paratha and then wrap it tightly with a foil and then place in a ziploc. This way the paratha is great for 3-4 months. When needed, heat the paratha on the pan and then serve.
