Mango - Sweet and ripe mangoes work the best.

Habanero - Extra hot peppers add to the spicy kick in this chutney. This chutney is sweet as well as spicy. If you prefer more spicier notes, add more habanero peppers.

Jaggery - Sweetens the chutney to balance the spicy habaneros. You can find this in Indian groceries. If you do not have it, you may use brown sugar.

Apple cider vinegar - Balances the sweet mangoes and spicy peppers.

Salt - gives flavor. Adjust the salt as per your taste preference.

Oil - A little oil to cook the alliums. Any oil would work in this recipe.

Lemon juice - boosts the flavors.

Spices - Mustard seeds, onion seeds, fennel seeds give aroma and flavor to the chutney.

Onion, ginger, garlic - These add to flavor and boost the aroma.

Turmeric - Adds to the color and medicinal properties.

Habanero Peppers

Habanero pepper, an extra hot pepper, falls in the scoville range of 100000-350,000 Scoville units. As a result, this hot pepper makes really spicy dishes. If you are spicy hot food lover, you should try this Xnipec Salsa, a tasty and spicy salsa perfect to have with chips.

Since this an extra hot pepper, it is better to wear gloves while handling the pepper. It is also a good idea to wash your hands with soap a couple of times to remove any extra residue of the pepper in your hand.

Serving Suggestions

This sweet and spicy mango habanero chutney can be served as a dip for chips, on crostini. One of my personal favorite way to serve this is with parathas which makes a quick and delicious weeknight meal.

Here is my way to serve this. Serve this on crackers with a slice of cheddar cheese. The sharp cheddar and the sweet and spicy chutney on a cracker, it is a extraordinary experience of multiple flavor explosions at the same time in your mouth. It is the best! This is a bright condiment for charcuterie boards.

Storage

Homemade food is always the best as it tastes better and stays longer too. This stays fresh for more than a week in the refrigerator. When needed defrost to bring to room temperature and use as a topping when serving with crackers or cheese.
