Why oreo parathas?

Oreo lovers, here is yet another delicious and delightful oreo loaded dessert for you! These are simply fun and delicious and remind you of puran poli, the difference being that the outer covering is whole wheat instead of all purpose flour and the filling or puran is oreo cookies!

These crisp parathas make a wonderful snack or dessert. Sometimes, this is great to pack for lunch if you have picky eaters who bring back their lunch home. Unquestionably, kids will love this! Adults too! I love them.

These innovative parathas with a unique twist to traditional paratha open up a creative aisle. Play around with your favorite additions like nuts or chocolate chips in addition.

Parathas, though traditionally savory, can be made sweet like Dates Walnut Paratha  or Chocolate Cashew Coconut Caramel Stuffed Paratha . These parathas will make a creative addition to your menu.

You can whip up these parathas easily with your pantry staples. Whole wheat flour and oroes are always staple ingredients in majority of the homes.

Further, the portion size van be customized depending upon how many serving you need. This make ahead dessert paratha is a crowd pleaser and makes a unique dessert idea for your next get together.

Ingredients

To make these oreo parathas, you will need the following ingredients.

Whole wheat flour - whole wheat flour is the base of the paratha. This gives wholesome nutrition.

Oreo - Of course, these are the star of the paratha. Regular oreos are used in these parathas.

Salt - A little enhanves the flavors.

Water - To knead the dough.

Cream cheese - Cream cheese not only adds proteins and calcium, but also acts as a binder for the filling.

Ghee/melted butter - This enhances the flavor profile of the paratha and gives a rich flavor.

Serving Suggestions

These oreo parathas with a generous amount of oreos stuffed inside, taste out of the world when served hot or warm. It has to be crisp for best experience. Tearing a piece of hot hot paratha and shoving it in is simply divine to imagine. Divine dessert experience!

For a overloaded oreolicious fun dessert, stack wedges of the warm paratha, and scoop oreo ice cream. This makes an incredible dessert! I serve this with my homemade oreo icecream. You may also serve with all time favorite vanilla ice cream too. You may also add a drizzle of chocolate sauce too.

Storage

These parathas are good at room temperature for a day. However, I would suggest storing in the refrigeratr as it has cream cheese in the filling. In this way, it has. shelf life of a week. Heat them on a pan and serve hot or warm.

These parathas can also be stored in the freezer. Make sure to pack with parchment layers between each paratha and then store in a ziploc or airtight container. When needed, cook in the pan and serve warm.

Moreover, this paratha is customizable. Make it smaller to suit the needs. Or cut it into wedges, or serve as a whole dessert paratha smeared with extra ghee or melted butter.

Variations

This recipe uses regular oreos. Depending upon the season, flavored oreos may be used to make different kind of variations to this dessert paratha. I love maing it with peppermint oreos during Christmas time. It is another way of fun.

Further, you can add nuts or chocolate chips additionally to the filling. Or use low fat cream cheese.

Can this be made ahead?

Absolutely! You can make them ahead, store in the fridge, and then warm them in a pan or in oven and serve crisp and warm parathas when needed.

How many Servings?

This recipe makes eight parathas of 6 to 7-inch parathas. This can easily serve eight if served as a whole paratha or upto 16 or 24 people if cut into wedges. My suggestion is that these always vanish quickly as they are addictive! Make more. Double the recipe.
